Hi there,

I’m Patrick. Born and raised in the rolling countryside east of Cologne, Germany, I was very lucky growing up among lush forests and and spending most of my holidays with my family at my grandparent’s house in the Austrian Alps. I still remember how I was stunned by the surroundings lakes, forests and mountains from an early age on. As I got older, I naturally began to immerse myself further into the mountains and tried to bottle up the essence of the places I explored through my first point-and-shoot camera.

In 2011, I started studying Geography in Munich, southern Germany, which finally enabled me to live permanently close to the Alps. My curiosity to explore the natural world quickly developed into a desire to seek for more remote and isolated places. So I went to Edmonton, Canada to study a year abroad and joined the Outdoors Club for regular trips into the Rocky Mountains, followed by backpacking through Norway and Spitsbergen for two months just before finishing my master’s program in Salzburg, Austria. Never before had I been able to spend such extended times in truly wild places - with their stark contrast of unforgiving challenges and infinite beauty. Ever since the outdoors became my real happy place. It stimulates all senses, gives focus and a sense of happiness, freedom and accomplishment.

So how did I come up with the idea to start a website? I’m far from being a professional - photography was and always will be a hobby. But even more so I want to share my excitement for nature, photography, exploration and conservation on my very own website, hoping to inspire you to get out on an adventure yourself, finding appreciation for nature and becoming aware of the importance of its protection.
